Kedron Lodge No. 389 gets visit from Mercer Co. Sheriff's Department Bomb and Patrol Dog

Tuesday, April 07, 2009

On Monday April 6, 2009 after the Stated Meeting, the program was a visit from Mercer Co. Deputy Sheriff Robert Lanshcak and his Bomb/Patrol Dog Boomer. Deputy Lanshack is a 9 year veteran and has been handling Boomer for roughly three years. Boomer is a 4 1/2 year old German Shepherd which was bred and born and imported from Germany. Together, they have worked across Western Pennsylvania as part of a regional task force. They have done searches for three Presidential details including one for current President Obama, Laura Bush and Hillary Clinton. They have also worked PNC Park and Heinz Field on numerous occasions.

Deputy Lanshack put on an impressive presentation, previously having hidden some smokeless gunpowder in a cabinet within the Lodge room. Boomer methodically searched for just a short time before he found it, at which time he sat down, alerting Deputy Lanshcak of its presence. After the demonstration, Deputy Lanshcak took some questions. After the Q and A session, a lunch was shared in the Cedar Room.

It was a great presentation and I recommend taking the time to see it if you have the opportunity.
